NaNoWriMo Day 10
I had been shying away from writing. Fell off the wagon Saturday, and had a hard time getting back on until now. Something about this particular chapter. It’s a big fight scene, with multiple factions, and a lot of characters. It’s very busy, which it should be, and I always have trouble with those. It’s understandable for Virgil not to see or notice everything in a situation like that, but the reader still expects to have a narrative, so I have to balance the two. There’s a fight scene in Sorcerer Rising, when they’re in Africa, that had the same issue and it was one of the last things I finalized. And I think I had three, distinct drafts.
Anyway, unacceptable for me to not be writing. Procrastinated, worked, slept, did things both worthy and unworthy of my time, but all still excuses not to write. Back on, and finished this first section. Just, like, three behind from last week and have four more to go for this week.
But keeping at it.
Happy with bits of this section, though it will need some polish, so it’s more yellow than blue, but I need to move on to the next and strike out toward the end. This was the one with the most existing content, the a lot of the other stuff is brand new. That might sound harder, and it can be, but with this one I was trying to preserve things I had already done while adding anew.
Alright then, see you tomorrow.
